Height of the soldiers from the Croatian Military Frontier

In my continuing posts about the soldiers from the Udbina area, here's the distribution of the soldiers heights over this time period:


The data only covers a short period, but I wanted to see if there is any evidence that their nutrition improved by seeing how the height varied over time.  The figure below gives the average height  by birth year. (This is a bubble plot so that the size of the circle is related to the number of people born that year in the sample.  In other words, a bigger circle means more people for that year.)  The red line giving the regression trend line and shows that, at least over this period, that there isn't much of a trend (though the trend is upward).


I also checked to see if there were any differences between the Catholics and Orthodox soldiers.  The Orthodox soldiers were just slightly taller on average (3 tenths of an inch), so no substantive difference.  Here's the graph (red line = Orthodox; green line = Catholic):
